How a room holds light
matters as much as how it looks.
Krienta works with homeowners across Kuala Lumpur on window dressings and the soft layer of their homes — fabric selection, daylight handling, and on-site coordination with makers.
Three ways to work together
Each engagement is shaped around your home — its windows, its light, and the way the rooms are used day to day.
Window Dressing Consultation
An on-site session covering window dressing for a home — curtains, blinds, sheers, or a combination — with a written direction document and fabric samples. Includes notes on daylight handling, evening privacy, and how each window relates to the room around it.
- Written direction document
- Fabric samples included
- Daylight and privacy notes
Soft Furnishings Package
An engagement covering window dressings, cushions, throws, and any bespoke upholstery for a home, with shortlists in two budget bands. Includes coordination with chosen makers and a placement visit on installation day. Suited to homes where the bones are set and the soft layer needs a considered hand.
- Two budget band shortlists
- Maker coordination
- Placement visit on installation day
Whole-Home Soft Layer Documentation
Full documentation for the soft layer of a home, prepared alongside or after a primary interior design package. Includes a fabric schedule, hardware schedule, and sequencing note for installation across multiple makers. Suited to substantial homes where the soft work is itself a project.
- Fabric & hardware schedule
- Multi-maker sequencing
- Works alongside existing ID package
Fabric in a Malaysian climate
Malaysian light is particular — strong, directional, and present most of the day. The way window dressings handle it shapes the feel of every room.
Daylight control
Each window assessment considers the direction it faces, the hours it receives strong light, and how to layer dressings so the room is comfortable at different times of day.
Humidity and fabric choice
Not every fabric performs well in a tropical setting. Krienta selects materials that hold their shape, resist moisture, and remain easy to maintain over years of Kuala Lumpur humidity.
Proportions and fit
Window height, ceiling height, and the space around the frame all affect how a finished dressing reads. Detailed measurement and written specifications are provided to every maker.
Colour and texture continuity
Soft furnishings are reviewed alongside existing finishes, wall colours, and flooring so nothing sits in isolation. The selection considers the whole room, not just the window.
Maker coordination
Krienta works with a small number of trusted KL-based curtain and upholstery makers. Specifications are passed directly to them, reducing the back-and-forth that typically falls on the homeowner.
On-site on installation day
For package and documentation engagements, a placement visit confirms that everything is hung correctly and sits as intended before the project is considered complete.
Every engagement begins with a conversation.
Describe your home, the rooms you have in mind, and what you're hoping to achieve. From there, Krienta can suggest which engagement makes sense.
Things people ask before getting in touch
What does the on-site consultation involve?
The session takes place in your home. We look at each window in context — how the room is used, what direction the light comes from, what you already have, and what you want to change. At the end you receive a written direction document and a small set of fabric samples to hold in the space.
Do you work outside Bangsar Baru?
Yes. Krienta takes on projects across greater Kuala Lumpur and Petaling Jaya. For homes further afield — Subang, Shah Alam, Damansara — a travel note may apply. Please mention your location when you get in touch and we'll confirm.
How long does the process typically take?
A window dressing consultation and its written document are usually completed within a week of the on-site visit. Soft furnishings packages typically run four to eight weeks depending on maker lead times. Whole-home documentation is scoped individually.
What does the RM price cover? Are there additional costs?
The listed price covers the design and coordination service — consultation, documentation, specification writing, and maker liaison. Fabric, hardware, and making costs are separate and paid directly to makers. Krienta provides itemised shortlists so you have full visibility before committing.
Can I use my own curtain maker?
Yes. Written specifications are prepared clearly enough to be handed to any maker. If you have an existing relationship with someone you trust, Krienta's documents give them the detail they need to proceed.
Do you handle full interior design beyond soft furnishings?
Krienta's practice is focused on the soft layer — window dressings, fabric, cushions, throws, and upholstery. For projects where full interior design is also needed, the Whole-Home Soft Layer Documentation is designed to work alongside a primary ID package handled by another designer or firm.
